personalized birthday cakes is a nice way to show someone you care.  you’re able to either tell a story or express your feelings or even share an inside joke.  Whatever it may be, its nice to see something come to life (especially when its edible). ^^

a friend of mine wanted to order a cake for his girlfriend.  He suggested TOMS shoes. [backstory: girlfriend gave him TOMS shoes for his birthday]  Thought it’d be cute if we made actual TOMS shoes [made out of fondant] and a shoes box [for the cake].

Personalized cupcakes are my favorite.  I love how you can express anything on them.

An order was placed for Sarah’s baby shower (baby Tyler).  Its amazing and interesting to see people grow and mature and even enter into new chapters in their lives.  I met Sarah many years back (before her husband and before her baby).  Congrats for a healthy baby!!

When people email me asking for a cake or cupcakes for their friends birthday, it excites me.

So heres the story:

a childhood friend of mine messaged me asking if I could bake her a cake and some cupcakes for her boyfriends birthday.  theme for the party: hats.

I LOVE themed parties!  It makes decorating fun and its nice to see people think outside of their box.  Anyways, relating to the theme, she asked for the cakes and cupcakes to be in theme with a crown.  Immediately I decided to take on the challenge and try something new.

for this order, I purchased edible gold spray to use to color the crowns gold.  I think I’m in love with this new toy of mine.  comes out smooth and saves you time from coloring your fondant [a double plus]!!

now on to the important stuff:

1. a simple crown.  exactly what she had asked for.

2. a crest. fits into the king vision.

3.  a mini crown.  super cute. my personal favorite.

and finally the cake. 6in cake on top of a homemade dessert stand.
